REVIEW: Shazam!

This review contains spoilers. Read at your own risk.

Shazam! is my favorite DC Extended Universe film. Ever.

I didn’t really know anything about Shazam before I watched this film. I knew that there was a show in the 70s, and that it was originally called Captain Marvel, but that’s all.

This film was the perfect blend of humor, action, and family. Zachary Levi’s performance was spectacular. He made this so fun to watch and I don’t think this would’ve been as fantastic without his performance.

I’m a sucker for the found family trope, so the plot was right up my alley. I loved the relationship between Billy, Freddy, and the foster siblings, as well as them with the foster parents. It was so wholesome to watch and it really drove this home for me.

This was such a beautiful family film while also being a classic superhero blockbuster. I have to give this 5 out of 5 stars. I’m stoked to see Shazam! Fury of the Gods!
