November 2025 Album Review Wrap-Up
Hi all and welcome back to another album review wrap-up! I had a very interesting month, with quite a few of the albums I found not even being on streaming platforms!
Smile by Judy Anton
Released: 1980
Judy Anton's Smile is a blend of Japanese city pop and English easy listening, a very calming album to put on. This album is not on streaming either; I happened to come across one of the tracks on YouTube that lead me down a deep rabbit hole of her other works.
Favorites: The River Must Flow, A Little Bit More, Reflections of You
Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars
Sunshowers In My Eyes by Judy Anton
Released: 1979
Compared to the album I listened to prior, Judy Anton takes on a more '60s English sunshine pop approach with Sunshowers In My Eyes. With a few tropical beats thrown in, this album is good, but is not my favorite of hers. This album is not present on streaming as well, and I found a vinyl rip on YouTube.
Favorites: Turn Out the Light, Soft Summer Breeze, Sweet Love
Overall Rating: 3.5 Stars
Surprise by Lynsey De Paul
Released: 1971
What a gorgeous voice and album! Very early Kate Bush. Sad Lynsey’s other projects aren’t on streaming, as I'm gonna have to deep dive on YouTube again for them lol.
Favorites: Water, So Good To You, Rockerdile
Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars
The Art of Loving by Olivia Dean
Released: 2025
This was really good! I’ve only heard a handful of songs off Olivia’s EPs, but with all the buzz around her newest project I had to tune in. And what a treat it is! I loved every track, it’s soul-pop perfection.
Favorites: So Easy (To Fall In Love), Nice To Each Other, Lady Lady
Overall Rating: 4 Stars
Songs From a Thousand Frames of Mind by Kate Bollinger
Released: 2025
Saw this artist was recommended for Clairo fans and WOWWW, what a gorgeous debut album! A lot of Men I Trust and Margo Guryan vibes too. I'm going to be revisiting this artists' older works soon as well. One of my favorite releases from this year.
Favorites: I See It Now, Postcards From a Cloud, Any Day Now
Overall Rating: 5 Stars
girl, c'mon! by The Two Lips
Released: 2025
I've been eagerly awaiting the debut project by The Two Lips since they were known as The Tulips. This was a cute collection of songs, but a bit surface level and leaned a bit grungier pop-rock than I was expecting. Was hoping for more pure pop songs more like "blossom," "still love you," or "talk," but this was a fun EP nonetheless.
Favorites: cup of tea, happy for me
Overall Rating: 3.5 Stars
Everybody Scream by Florence + The Machine
Released: 2025
Florence and the Machine's sixth album is good, probably smack-dab in the middle of my ranking for her works, but doesn't stand out too much compared to Lungs, Ceremonials, or Dance Fever. Don't get me wrong, this is an enjoyable listen, but I'm probably going to need more time for some songs to grow on me.
Favorites: Music by Men, Sympathy Magic, And Love
Overall Rating: 4 Stars
Taste Me...Don't Waste Me by Lynsey De Paul
Released: 1974
Lynsey De Paul's sophomore album takes on a more mature approach compared to the girlish Surprise. Lots of jazzy and bossa nova elements present that I enjoyed. Another great album from Lynsey!
Favorites: If Only, My Man and Me, Moonrise
Overall Rating: 4 Stars
Look At It In the Light by Kate Bollinger
Released: 2022
Wanted to try out one of Kate Bollinger's early extended plays and it's pretty good! Takes on a more indie approach than her debut, reminds me a bit of Eloise. And someone said that this sounds like what a mushroom would sound like, and I have to agree.
Favorites: I Found Out, Lady In the Darkest Hour, Connecting Dots
Overall Rating: 3.5 Stars
Love Bomb by Lynsey De Paul
Released: 1975
Not as enjoyable as her prior two albums, unfortunately. There were some good deep cuts, but the pop hits weren't as catchy.
Favorites: Season To Season, Dreams, Nothing Really Lasts Forever
Overall Rating: 3.5 Stars
See you next month!
