REVIEW: Aquaman

This review contains spoilers. Read at your own risk.

Aquaman felt like a mix of Thor: Ragnarok, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Barbie: A Mermaid Tale. But in a good way.

The first part of the movie was a bit boring to me. It wasn’t until Arthur and Mera reached the Bifrost-looking bridge into Atlantis that I started to get invested in the movie. My favorite scenes where definitely the scenes in Italy, the arrival scene in Atlantis, and the Kingdom of the Deserters scenes. Those were the most enjoyable scenes and the ones I was most invested in.

The ending had me on the edge of my seat! Aquaman’s entrance felt very similar to Thor’s entrance to Wakanda in Avengers: Infinity War. The way their mom showed up at the end and made everything better was a bit expected but I loved it nonetheless. The reunion between Atlanna and Tom was beautiful and almost made me cry. Almost.

My expectations for this movie were had been high and I was not disappointed. I had many friends say that this movie was great and worth the watch- and it really was!

My favorite character was Mera! I didn’t think I was going to like her as a character because I expected her to be a bubbly, dumb damsel in distress type of character- but oh, how I was so wrong!

Mera may be a bit on the bubbly side, but she is no dumb damsel in distress! The fight scene in Italy really proved this to me, as she is a woman who can hold her own. I love her a lot more than I expected to, and she is my favorite character of the movie.

On the other hand, I didn’t really like King Orm. He made me feel uneasy, and I don’t think he was that good of a villain. His character felt off to me. I don’t know if it was the acting on Patrick Wilson’s part or the writing of the character, but something just didn’t feel right.

I personally think that Manta was the better villain with a better reason behind his vengeance, and based on the end credits scene he will hopefully return as the main villain in Aquaman 2.

Overall, I give Aquaman a 4 out of 5 stars. I can’t wait for Aquaman 2 now, and I hope it’s just as good as this one.

Happy end of year everyone! This one has been absolutely crazy for me, dealing with some of the uppiest ups and the downiest downs. I would summarize this year in one word: a rollercoaster. But throughout this year, one thing has been pretty consistent for me, and that would be reading. Through all of the crazy events of my life this year, it was rare when I was without a book (or e-reader) in hand. I actually read so much, that... I read 110 books this year! Go me! Every person interested in true crime has that one case that sticks with them. The one case that keeps them awake at three in the morning, the one case that boggles the mind. From The Vault: Speculation On the Upcoming Vault Tracks from Reputation (Taylor's Version) and Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version)

With the Tortured Poets Department era seemingly coming to a close soon, considering the speculated upcoming announcement for Reputation (Taylor's Version) , my mind has been on the vault tracks lately. In particular, the countless possibilities for the Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version ) vault tracks. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of interest in the Reputation vault tracks, but we don't have much knowledge on what those might be. Beyond possible re-recorded versions of "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" with ZAYN, Taylor-penned Rihanna hit "This Is What You Came For," as well as scrapped Lover track "Need," we only have one other known song from this time: "Family," a song registered by Taylor in May of 2018 on GEMA and mentioned in an interview with Scott Swift, is the only unreleased song from the Reputation era that the public is aware of.
