REVIEW: Dream Girl Drama by Tessa Bailey

I have received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book through the publisher. This has not affected my rating or review in any way.

Thank you to Avon for sending me an Advance Reader’s Copy of Dream Girl Drama!

This review is going to be a bit different from all my other reviews, in that I'm not going to be the only one speaking on the love for this book. So please, consider this your pre-review...

A few days after I was approved for my Advance Reader's Copy of Tessa Bailey's Dream Girl Drama, I knew there was someone who had to read it before me. My friend Maddy is the biggest Tessa Bailey fan I know (trust me, I've seen wield a huge stack of Bailey's books), and she was the one who got me into this series in the first place, so I felt it was only fair. I lent her the login to my NetGalley account at 8 PM (I know it's technically a big no-no to share ARCs, but how could I not?) and carried on with my night, not expecting her to be reading it very soon.

Lo and behold, I woke up the next day to a string of texts:

"GIRL THAT BOOK WAS FLAWLESS" "I cried, I laughed, I felt every emotion ever" "I couldn't put it down" - My friend Maddy, who had texted this to me at 1:30 AM.

And listen, if the biggest Tessa Bailey fan I know is saying that the Tessa Bailey book is good after reading it in the span of less than twelve hours, it's gonna be good.

Dream Girl Drama is the third book in Tessa Bailey's sports romance interconnected standalone Big Shots series. This installment follows Sig Gauthier and his ditzy crush/fling-turned-stepsister Chloe Clifford as they navigate the tension among their parents' fresh engagement. Fans of the series will see some familiar faces from previous installments popping up, and certainly won't be disappointed with the trope-filled romance, steamy scenes, and happily ever after-ending. They also won't have long to wait for the next installment of the Big Shots series, Pitcher Perfect, which is expected in autumn 2025.

Tessa Bailey isn't my favorite contemporary romance author (that tiara belongs to the STEM queen Ali Hazelwood), but I have to admit that her books can be pretty fun and addictive. The Big Shots series is the only one of her interconnected standalones that I've truly enjoyed, and this entry into the series is a worthy one. (However, if it wasn't already apparent, it should be noted that this book does have a trigger for pseudo-incest.) Fangirl Down remains my favorite, but I enjoyed this one a bit more than The Au-Pair Affair. Self-made Sig Gauthier is my favorite male main guy of all three because he fortunately lacks the depressing angst of Wells Whittaker and the emotional constipation of Burgess Abraham. Sheltered and spoiled Chloe Clifford was much better than Tallulah Aydin, but just isn't my girl Josephine Doyle (who I relate to just a bit too much). Plot wise, though, this one was my favorite of the three; the will-they-won't-they tension, the family drama, and the forbidden love trope all wrapped up into one pretty book package made this such an enjoyable and entertaining read for me.

Overall, Dream Girl Drama is a light and fun contemporary romance read that any Tessa Bailey fan (or sports romance fan in general) will enjoy. I've given it 4 out of 5 stars, and thank you for reading this spoiler-free review!

Dream Girl Drama by Tessa Bailey will be available on February 4th, 2025.
