REVIEW: Secret Invasion

This review contains spoilers. Read at your own risk.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, and I'm being completely honest about it: I'm losing interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Secret Invasion was a disappointment of a series. What I thought was to be a bridge between 2019's Captain Marvel and its upcoming sequel ended up being a laughingstock at best. From terrible writing to poorly produced visual effects and the usage of artificial intelligence in the opening, it's insane to me that Marvel and Disney would find this to be of releasable quality.

The storyline was confusing poorly written, and one of the major choices made in the earlier episodes- killing off long-running character Maria Hill- was absolutely outrageous. Also, I find it shameful that they wasted such brilliant actors as Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman.

Despite everything, the worst part of it all was the CGI and visual effects. Anyone who is in the know of Marvel's current affairs knows that the CGI department is terribly overworked with the amount of content being pushed out per year, and it's causing projects like Secret Invasion to have poorly designed, unfinished looking CGI. If Marvel had taken more time to polish this series, it might not have been as terrible. And do not get me started on the AI-generated opening titles.

It's almost shameful that I used to find true enjoyment in media made by the same people who made this show. I did not even get through the full series before I had to call it quits and turn off my television but based on spoilers I've seen online I have no intention of finishing this series. It's so bad that I want to give it a 0, but I can't so I give it 1 out of 5 Stars.
