The Mandalorian: Season One Review

This review contains spoilers. Read at your own risk.

I think I might just have a new favorite show of all time.

Star Wars' The Mandalorian is one of the best things to come from the franchise in a long time- and I say this as someone who loved the prequels and sequels (the spin-off films not so much). Pedro Pascal's performance as the gunslinging bounty hunter Din Djarin was amazing, Gina Carino's Cara Dune was a brilliant badass, Peli Motto was hilarious, and Gustavo Fring Giancaro Esposito's Moff Gideon was the perfect villain (as per usual)... but we need to talk about the real star of the show: The Child, aka Baby Yoda.

Sweet, teeny tiny baby boy. I loved him from the moment I saw him at the end of Chapter One (as I think we all did). I cooed (and nearly died) over every moment he babbled, moved, even just blinked. He has no name yet he is possibly definitely one of my favorite fictional characters of all time. Okay and maybe he's a little mischievous but I can guarantee you that he has done nothing wrong, ever, in his little baby life.

And those two Stormtroopers who thought it would be a good idea to hit and kick the tiny little innocent baby deserved a fate worse than that death, I don't care.

The writing was absolutely phenomenal, and I'd expect no less from the man who gave us the Iron Man trilogy. From the dialogue to the pacing to the bond between the Mandalorian and the Child, this series was perfect in every way. Also, is it just me or did this show seem influenced or inspired by Doctor Who? There were a lot of similarities to which I plan on writing a full post about someday, at some point lol.

Overall, this was an amazing show. I was hooked from Chapter One and was on the edge of my seat for every episode afterward. I'm highly looking forward to season two, but for now I give season one 4.5 out of 5 stars.
