REVIEW: Taylor Swift's Lover

Okay, I'll say it: Lover is Taylor Swift's best pop album- fight me!

An unpopular opinion from me, but Lover is Taylor’s best pop album and you cannot change my mind. I don’t understand how an album with bangers like Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street, and Death By A Thousand Cuts gets so much hate. I love almost every single song from this album including majority of the unpopular songs like I Forgot That You Existed, You Need To Calm Down, and It’s Nice To Have A Friend (I can’t defend ME! though, I’ve tried). The aesthetic of this era also drives my love for this album even further, the hearts and butterflies and everything pink is just so bright and feel-good that I can’t not love it.

It probably helps that this album found me in a dark place of my life. It was the final few months before the pandemic and I was working on escaping an abusive situation. This album was like a little light shining into my life. I listened to it obsessively as an escape from the situation that I was in, and even once I was out of that situation I still listen and have a lot of love for Lover.

TL;DR, am I the only one who understands the complexity of this musically ambitious masterpiece? This album isn't stupid! You’re stupid! (You get bonus points if you grew up watching The Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy.)

Favorites: Daylight, Afterglow, False God, The Archer

Least Favorites: ME!
