REVIEW: Spider-Man: Far From Home

This review contains spoilers. Read at your own risk.

Considering that I got to see this movie not once, but two times on my birthday, you would’ve thought that I’d enjoy this more.

Spider-Man: Far From Home wasn’t a disappointment, but it’s predecessor definitely overshadows it in my opinion. I wasn’t bored so to say, but there were points where I was waiting for the action to start. Otherwise, this was actually very enjoyable and entertaining.

I thought this was the perfect conclusion to the Infinity Saga. It felt like an epilogue and a prologue without really being either. It bridged Phase 3 and Phase 4 together nicely and I really liked that.

Tom Holland is always phenomenal as Spider-Man. He always understands the assignment. It’s always a pleasure to see Zendaya as MJ, as well as seeing May, Happy, Nick and Maria again.

Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio was an interesting part of the film. When you already know that Mysterio is a major villain in the Marvel Comics, it’s kinda hard to follow along with the “Mysterio’s our ally” storyline. I was just waiting for him to betray Peter, and surprise, surprise, he did.

The end credit scenes though... damn!

Most of Marvel’s end credit scenes are on the format of one serious scene, one funny scene. Spider-Man: Far From Home had two serious scenes, and they were the best part of the movie!

As the cherry on top to Mysterio’s betrayal, he reveals Spider-Man’s true identity to the world: Peter Parker. When I tell you, this scene had my mom flying out of her seat! Both of us, as well as almost all of the audience screamed in pure shock at this.

The last scene was setting up Secret Invasion and The Marvels, with the reveal of Fury and Maria being Talos and his wife all along. Fury (and presumably Maria) are in space working with S.W.O.R.D. Crazy, huh?

Overall, this film’s best moments were it’s credit scenes. Not saying the film wasn’t enjoyable. I’m giving this a 3.5 out of 5 stars. Hopefully Spider-Man: No Way Home is much better than both of its predecessors!
