REVIEW: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Is it just me… or is Marvel just not trying anymore?

I'm going to be honest, was one of the worst films I've seen in a long time. And by a long time, I mean the span of time between Thor: Love and Thunder and this.

Let's start with the acting; I think (almost) everyone did great, but the true shining star of this film was Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror. That speech scene at the end of Loki season one did not put his acting skills to justice, and a full-length feature film has finally given that to him. On the other hand, Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang was absolutely awful. Newton's acting skills were incredibly subpar, comparable to Mandip Gill or Tosin Cole in Doctor Who. I truly wish that they had kept Emma Fuhrmann as Cassie instead. Corey Stoll as M.O.D.O.K., who previously played Yellowjacket in the first Ant-Man film, was also strangely disappointing- and downright stupid at times.

The writing was also astoundingly bad. Jeff Loveness really thought that M.O.D.O.K. 'redeeming himself' by proclaiming that he was "a dick" to an encouraging Cassie Lang would be a moving moment? I nearly died of cringing in the theater.

I hate to say it, but my love for this cinematic universe is dying. I couldn't bring myself to love this film, or even like it, just as I couldn't bring myself to like Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness or Thor: Love and Thunder. I'm going to have to give this film 2 out of 5 stars.

Edit: After some concerning allegations have arisen about Jonathan Majors, I would like to clarify that I do not support him as an actor or person any longer (or until the allegations are proven false).
