REVIEW: Doctor Who: Legend of the Sea Devils

It wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t great.
I feel like this is getting hated on a bit too much. I thought it was alright, nothing special, but not an absolute dumpster fire. If you want a dumpster fire, watch The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos.
The characters weren’t too great. Thirteen and Yaz were just the same old Thirteen and Yaz. Dan stole the show once again, just as he did in Flux. I didn’t really care for any of the side characters, but the final battle was pretty fun. Definitely felt like a Chibnall-written episode (take that as you will). Also, the CGI wasn’t too bad, considering I don’t have an OLED 4K HD television, it looked fine on my screen.
The best (and most notable) part of this episode was Thirteen saying “my wife.” I love for this little River Song crumb because my favorite ship in Doctor Who is Eleven and River (formerly Ten and Rose). You should’ve seen the way I screamed and started kicking my legs up and down in pure excitement.
Something good about this is that I’m ready for the Centenary. I’m okay with seeing Dan leave, more than excited to see Yaz go, and I’m mentally preparing myself for Thirteen’s regeneration. I’m also really excited to see Kate, Tegan, and Ace!
While this was a 2 star special, I’m giving it 3 Stars. I hope to see more than this from the Centenary this October.
