REVIEW: Taylor Swift's Red (Taylor's Version)

Oh, take me back to the days where I would come home from school and blast the original version of this from the CD player in my bedroom.

Red has a very special place in my heart. Not only was it my first favorite album of Taylor’s, not only was it my first signed CD, not only was it my first listening party with friends, but I just fell in love with so many of the songs on this album. Despite being twelve years old and still thinking boys had cooties, I was able to connect with Taylor’s breakup songs likely because of how descriptive and intricate her songwriting is. I could feel her emotions as if they were my own.

Now that I’m an adult I connect to these songs in a different way, some better and some worse. The Taylor’s Version of this album hits so different as an adult and I honestly don’t think it could’ve come at a better time. My only complaint would be Phoebe Bridgers’ feature on Nothing New (as I’m not a fan of her as a person since she supported Amber Heard), but it doesn’t entirely ruin the song for me. Even over ten years later Red is still a 10/10 album, absolutely brilliant.
